You can use in game Convoy option, but make sure that neither of you have any mods. At the moment it doesnβt work with mods. Alright thanks! TruckersMP is mod for massive multiplayer, and ingame convoys are for small scale multiplayer. Its pretty straight forward.

no, you NEED to have steam to play the multiplayer but never fear all you need to do is take the key that you got in the box and activate it on steam and boom your done now you can use it. Also while your at it sign up for World Of Trucks to get some free DLC :)
I don't believe there is a way to get the same run without sharing profiles. But that adds to the realism. Most convoys will involve you and your friend(s) going in the same general direction, but have different destinations.
